It is the mission of Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health Services to serve consumers so that they may achieve a more fulfilling and independent life. 

The primary consumers of L&CBHS are residents of the counties of Bon Homme, Charles Mix, Clay, Douglas, Hutchinson, Union and Yankton who have mental illnesses, chemical dependency, gambling addiction, are in need of family and children’s services or are concerned with optimal mental health. 

L&CBHS offers confidential services including Individual Counseling, Family Counseling, Psychiatric Evaluations, Psychological Evaluations Medication Management, Emergency Services, Consultation Services, Home Based Therapy, Children’s Case Management, Geriatric Mental Health Services, Community Support Programs, Vocational Services, Education and Prevention Services, Gambling Services, and Substance Use Evaluations and Treatment.

The intent of L&CBHS is to work in cooperation with the families of consumers and those working on behalf of our consumers, such as advocacy groups, government entities, United Way, other agencies, and concerned citizens.

Principles guiding Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health Services in achieving its mission are:

  • We will focus on the needs of consumers first and foremost, and will seek to assure services in accordance with Federal Law, State Regulations, and other funding priorities
  • We will perform our duties with professional integrity and honesty, striving for excellence
  • We will provide services to consumers in the most efficient and effective manner possible to maximize the resources available to us
  • We will create an environment that values consumers, their family members, and our own staff to encourage team work, growth, and improvement through development and empowerment
  • We will operate as a unified agency and deliver services cooperatively to implement our mission
